I found Leah Chavie through Jane Iredale's website and have had consistently great experiences there in the year that I've been coming.   I work in the organic beauty industry and like reviewer Gary C below, Leah has also impressed me with her deep knowledge about skincare and ingredients (as opposed to most flaky estheticians & hair stylists I've tried getting advice from over the years).   She's always friendly, always takes her time during my SilkPeels, and finishes you off with Jane Iredale mineral powder to calm redness and give sun protection.

Regarding their phone service, they were between receptionists but just got a lovely new woman.  I've never had a problem with calls and have always gotten a reminder phone call for every appmt.  Give them another chance if you haven't gotten in yet!

I have traveled the world in search of beauty and healthcare and have discovered one thing: that is it not the items or the treatments offered, it is the people who are there at the salon providing the care.  In this regard, the staff at Leah Chavie, specifically Kate McDonald, have the experience, service and attitude that helps set them apart from their competitors and imitators.  It is not surprising then that doctors and medical professionals trust Kate and Leah to perform their often complicated treatments using very complicated and medical grade equipment.  If you want to be pampered and made better by a friendly, attentive and educated staff, then Leah Chavie Skincare Boutique is your place.  I should know, I am about the vainest person I know and only trust the best (me) to the best (Leah Chavie and Kate McDonald).

I had a Living Social deal for a facial and went back another day for a spray tan.  Both were great, the tanning was one of the best I've ever had done.  Kate is awesome.  I love her obsession with the little bumps that need unclogging and she is a whiz with the spray tan wand.  I wouldn't hesitate to go back, they are a very friendly, unpretentious salon.

As a hairdresser,and esthetic professional for over 22 years......Leah Chavie is one of the ONLY people in my career THAT HAS TRULY IMPRESSED ME!!!!!!
  I am a typical,late 30 something, wanting to stop the hands of time,and will do just about anything to get there. And  what i LOVED about my experience with Leah,was after over 20 some years in the industry, she is just as enthusiastic,as the day she started!
  Anyone can give a facial.....apply a cream.....do some extractions.....apply a mask....some have a better touch than others. But as an beauty industry professional myself.....those days ARE OVER!!!!!

    TRUE, cutting edge esthetiticians and hairdressers look at the client in a more advanced approach....thinking of what we can do at the MOMENT....'BUT HERE'S WHERE I CAN TAKE YOU TO.. IN THE FUTURE!!!!!"  What are your goals? Here's what i see? This is what i suggest? And that is EXACTLY WHAT LEAH DOES.

   You will be instantly calmed if you are nervous,or intimidated about trying more advanced esthetic services....and her explaination of your options(American versus European treatments), and product knowledge will instantly put you at ease.

    If you are looking for some multi level 20,000 square foot techno spa like a Mario Triccoci....this is not your place.

  But if you are looking for a quiet,intimate,"little gem" of a place in the heart of Lincoln Park....with a person who TRULY knows what shes doing.....try Leah Chavie skincare Boutique......you have have nothing to loose but a few crows feet and a whole lotta glow!!!!!!!!

I'll be honest. I don't have a lot of experience with med spas, or spas in general. But I know when I've had a good customer service experience.

I bought a Bloomspot deal for six laser hair removal sessions. And while I've only had one (and am SO impatient for the next), I was really impressed with this small business. The owner, Leah Chavie, allayed my fear when I told her I was a bit nervous as this was my first time getting lasered. She assured me the process would take about ten minutes. And it did. I wouldn't describe the actual process as painful, but it is a bit uncomfortable. But Leah just kept telling me to breathe as she deftly worked the bikini line area I had chosen.

The office is clean and bright, with all the products on display, although I didn't have time to browse. There are soft pillows on the tables in the spa rooms. And I've already decided that if I'm pleased with the results, I'll go back to this place for more lasering. And facials. I believe after just one visit, this boutique spa has made me a spa junkie.

The Thermojet

The Thermojet Infrared Body Wrap machine is a European product used in spas, health/fitness and salons centers around the world. It uses silicone wraps to target specific body parts with infrared heat. The health and healing benefits of heat have been used many ways throughout history. The relatively new machine (has been in the market for about 10 years) is coveted by some of the best health and beauty outfits in the world, b/c it harnesses the benefits of heat resulting in immediate results within the 40 minute treatment.

What it does:

The machine aids in weight loss and body contouring, decreases the appearance of cellulite, blemishes and acne, promotes pain relief and detoxifies the body.

How:

It is a thermolipolysis appliance- a system that uses short and long infrared waves to penetrate the dermis, hypodermis and deeper fat layers. The increased body temperature increases the metabolism and circulation, burning fat.

Silicone wraps trap the heat, targeting deep layers of your skin 4-6 centimeters into the tissue, breaking down fats into a liquid form allowing secretion of body water, toxins and fat as you perspire. In a similar fashion the process works diminishing the appearance of cellulite promoting the body to sweat, clearing those cellulite pockets.

After using the Thermojet, an individual should notice cleaner skin and a difference in its elasticity. The sweat induced from the heat therapy helps the body purge impurities and leaves it with a soft feeling.

The infrared heat also helps muscles and joints and can be used for osteo-articular and muscular treatments. The dry heat helps to alleviate cause and symptoms of aches, pain and general soreness.
